Chenise D. Anthony
Executive Director
Chenise Anthony serves as the Executive Director of the Fair Housing Council of Metropolitan Memphis. Chenise began her career in fair housing as a law student by working as a housing discrimination tester in the Suffolk University Law School Housing Discrimination Testing Program. Throughout her career, Chenise has worked with non-profit organizations, academic leaders, federal and state government agencies, civil rights organizations, and Tribal governments. Chenise has taught courses and implemented curriculums in ACT College Readiness Assessment, law school admissions, speech and oral arguments, governance, and constitutional law.
A Memphis native, Chenise is a graduate of Ridgeway High School. She received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Rhodes College and received her Juris Doctor from Suffolk University Law School in Boston, Massachusetts. Chenise is devoted to rectifying the inequities in Memphis and throughout the metropolitan area.
Brittany Hart
Education and Outreach Coordinator
Brittany Hart brings over thirteen years of experience in nonprofit, healthcare, and community outreach to her role as Education and Outreach Coordinator at the Fair Housing Council of Metropolitan Memphis (FHCMM). With a background in supporting children, families, and underserved communities, Brittany has led Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives, developed comprehensive training programs, and fostered community engagement. As a certified DEI advocate, she is dedicated to promoting fair housing and eliminating discrimination, driving her impactful work at FHCMM. Brittany is passionate about creating inclusive environments and believes in the power of education to transform communities. Her extensive experience and commitment to social justice make her a valuable asset to the organization.
Sam Schell
Test Coordinator
Sam Schell is originally from New York City and is now based in Memphis, Sam brings a wealth of experience and dedication to the Fair Housing Council of Metropolitan Memphis (FHCMM). With a degree in Sociology focused on racism, capitalism, and the systemic inequalities that impact marginalized communities. Sam’s academic journey led to a deep understanding of systemic inequalities specifically in housing. Over the past decade, Sam has worked tirelessly in the nonprofit sector, specializing in affordable housing, refugee family services, healthcare access in underserved communities, and supporting unhoused youth in securing housing, education, and essential life skills. Currently, Sam is responsible for advocacy, research, and the enforcement of fair housing discrimination cases at FHCMM. With a commitment to equity and empowerment, Sam strives to ensure that everyone has equal access to safe and fair housing opportunities and is a passionate advocate for fair housing and social justice.
Phillip Trenthem
Test Coordinator
Phillip is a lifelong Memphian with a passion for understanding and solving urban issues. He has a background in geographic information sciences, urban history and form, and applied anthropology. His research and work experience includes participatory planning projects in San Antonio, Texas and Catania, Sicily, as well as working with Continuum of Care housing programs in Memphis. At FHCMM, Phillip works on advocacy, research, and enforcement of fair housing issues.
